LIVE ELEX: Fostering public trust in elections
A live election result display for the 2024 presidential election to foster trust by helping voters understand vote counting procedures, setting expectations for uncertainties, and distinguishing trends that are and aren’t meaningful about winner or malfeasance. We focus on showing results of the 7 swing states.

After our study during election week, we are currently adapting our dashboard to playback the entire election and provided a summary of our forecasts 2, 4, and 8 hours polls closed.

The Election Week Study
We ran a study with 800 participants from across the U.S., split into 4 experiment conditions based on the kind of information on the dashboard available for sense-making: live data, forecast, and explanation.
Over the course of the election week, participants viewed the dashboard on a regular basis, answering 7 surveys that assess shifts in understanding, expectation, and trust.
